Woodford Reserve Distiller's Select 45.2% ABV 750 ml
This small batch bourbon is aged in charred oak barrels, and emerges incredibly smooth and flavorful. Intense aromas of caramel, oak, dried apricot and pepper explode from the glass, and the palate is equally bold. Vanilla, pepper, and dried fruit lead to a warm but pleasantly tame finish. Though this is an excellent sipping whiskey, it also makes a fantastic Mint Julep.

Buffalo Trace Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey 45% ABV 750 ml
As one of the oldest distilling sites in Nort America, Buffalo Trace remains true to the quality standarts established by our ancestors. We invite you to sample a traditionally handcrafted bourbon that harkens back to the days of our ancestors. Smooth, confident, fiercely independent - these are the tastes of Buffalo Trace Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. Enjoy.

1792 Ridgemont Reserve Barrel Select Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey 46.85% ABV 750 ml
Barton Brands Distillery, owned by Sazerac (the same folks that own Buffalo Trace), has produced 1792 Ridgemont Reserve Bourbon for almost a decade or so now. This bourbon is called “barrel select”, which essentially means it is a small batch bourbon. The master distiller selects barrels that he deems “ready” for batching together with other barrels and then bottles these “batches” separately. The minimum age of each barrel in 1792 (the year KY became the 15th state) is 8 years. That’s a fair bit of age, and what some believe to be a real sweet spot for most bourbons. Of course that’s extremely subjective.

Elmer T. Lee Single Barrel Sour Mash Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey 45% ABV 750 ml
Old familiar as I call it. Elmer T. Lee is quite possibly one of the most comforting Bourbons or Whiskey’s of any kind made today. The first whiff floods the nose with Maple, Caramel, gentle spice, and the wonderful bright notes of citrus and orange peel. The sip echoes the nose beautifully with caramel, maple, honey, vanilla, bitter orange, and light oak. The finish is moderately long with gentle spice coating the tongue. Just a brilliantly crafted bourbon of balance – deep and rich, yet so easily drinkable. A perfect bourbon for the novice and the connoisseur alike. And to think a Bourbon icon like Elmer T. Lee still selects the barrels to this day. Makes it all the more special. Highly recommended.

Bulleit Rye American Whiskey 45% ABV 750 ml
Founded in 1897 and released in 1999, Bulleit Bourbon has been climbing the ranks ever since. As my go-to bourbon, its high rye mash bill gives it a unique palette to remember. I've been a fan of Bulleit since the first time I tried it and when I heard about a rye version the Bulleit Distilling Co. was working on I was pretty excited. I Definitely had some high hopes. In development since 2004, Tom Bulleit’s Rye was due to come out being that rye is today's current trend whiskey. Yet for the very reason of rye's popularity, this release rises above the rest, holding its own as a reasonably priced rye.

Dad's Hat Small Batch Rye Whiskey 45% ABV 750 ml
In March 1791, at the behest of Treasury Secretary Alexander Hamilton, President George Washington signed into the law the Whiskey Excise Act. The law levied taxes on spirits distilled within the United States and was the first tax ever levied by the federal government on a domestically-produced product.

Farmers living west of the Appalachian Mountains — the western frontier at the time — were vehemently opposed to the tax. These farmers often operated small stills and distilled their excess grains into whiskey, which was easier to transport over the Appalachian Mountains than cumbersome grains. When agents of the Treasury Department were forcibly prevented from collecting the whiskey tax by the farmers, George Washington led a federalized militia of nearly 13,000 soldiers into western Pennsylvania in order to suppress the “Whiskey Rebellion.” Without firing a shot, the rebellion collapsed, although many Pennsylvania farmers continued to evade the tax.

Armed with a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania (and an MBA from Wharton), Herman Mihalich, master distiller at Mountain Laurel Spirits, pays tribute to Pennsylvania’s rich tradition of making small-batch spirits with Dad’s Hat Pennsylvania Rye Whiskey. Dad’s Hat Rye is made from a mash of 80% rye, 15% malted barley and 5% malted rye. After Mihalich sources all of the grains from local farmers in Pennsylvania, he slowly ferments the mash for approximately seven days and distills it in a 500-gallon Christian Carl copper-pot still. The still, which is augmented by a side-column, allows Mihalich to tune and refine the flavor of his rye whiskey.

After distillation, the rye is aged in charred, white oak quarter casks (15-gallon casks) for just under one year in temperature-controlled environments. The small casks and climate-controlled aging give the whiskey hints of cinnamon, dried fruits, nuts and candied apple, which nicely balance out the flavor of the spicy rye. Following aging, the whiskey is brought to proof before each bottle is filled and labeled by hand.

Inspired by the old-fashioned fedora hats his father purchased in Philadelphia, Mihalich recreated the sentiment that these hats represent with Dad’s Hat Whiskey: quality, tradition and integrity. Try a quality, traditional rye whiskey today!
