Tasting Notes
Aromas of black plum, cherry, rhubarb and hints of earth and loam. Flavors of red plum, raspberry and blood orange are underpinned by distinctive river stone minerality and savory umami character. Plush and richly textured with juicy, yet balanced acidity and integrated toasty barrel spice.

Food Pairings
Try Italian sausage with peppers and onions, mushroom risotto, or anything with gruyere. A simple grilled chicken or fish is sublime with this wine.

Winemaker Notes
A cool climate means grapes spend more time on the vine. That allows a deeper, more dramatic spectrum of avors and aromas to develop. And that creates decidedly rich and layered wines.

The 2016 growing season was highlighted by an unusually dry winter followed by a warm and dry spring. Warm weather and sparse rainfall continued throughout summer, leading to an early start to harvest and reduced yields. The smaller crop resulted in exceptional wines with great character and concentrated flavors.

Our boutique, hands-on techniques continued into the winery. The grapes were picked at night or during the cool early morning hours and cold-soaked
for three days at 48°F. Next, they were punched down three times a day during fermentation, with no post-fermentation maceration, and racked out of barrel once at the time of blending, just prior to bottling.

The Winery
Since 1979, La Crema Winery has been a pioneer in producing Burgundian varietals from the cool Sonoma coast. They handcraft their wine, one barrel at a time, at their family-owned estate located in the Russian River Valley. Balance, finesse and great fruit intensity come through in every glass of La Crema wine.

La Crema's location in the Russian River Valley is ideal for producing wines of uncompromising elegance and balance. To achieve this goal, several unique steps take place in getting fruit from the vineyards to the bottle. It begins in the vineyard, where careful canopy management and hand harvesting assure fully ripe, undamaged grapes are brought to the winery. At the winery, Winemaker Melissa Stackhouse uses artisan winemaking techniques to handcraft wines of distinctive flavor, elegance and balance.
